Rewards

I’ll give the numbers but there are two key take aways:

  1. The lower level the gem, the farther your gold goes. Put your gold into a Green gem (if you are using any) before you put it into a Purple gem.
  2. Two maxed out gems are worth more BEFORE they are merged. Yes, 2 maxed blue are worth MORE than 1 purple. You merge because you have run out of gem slots.

Below is a table of how much of a bonus you get for for each attribute from each type of gem (either empty or maxed out with XP). Actually, it is 2 tables just to be easier to read.

Where to get dust

If you use your free trips to the Gem Bay, you will probably never need dust. But you can also…

Recycle Gems for Free. A great use for grey gems that are of not much use by the time you are at a level where you have gold to spend on gems.

Recycle Shard for Gold (not recommended)

These are the numbers on recycling shards. The numbers are so wacky I think I must have made a mistake somewhere. Please contact me if you see where I went wrong.

Buy Dust for Diamonds. But don’t do this! Dust is easy to get with even a few trips to the Gem Bay.

Get it from other chests in the game. Like Gem chests in events (though don’t seek these out, they are never great) or your Clan War chest.

Scrolls

Each gem merger has a “change of successful merging”. If the merger fails, you lose the money you spent for the merger and both gems lose some of their XP. It stinks. So just always use a Scroll to make the probability of success 100.

How scrolls work. Below where you see the two gems you’ve picked to merge, there is a place for a Scroll. Pick the scroll the same color as the gems and the probability of success will be 100. I recommend always doing this. Scrolls are easier to get than Gold, so it’s not worth the risk.

Getting Scrolls. Like dust, if you use all you free Gem Bay trips, you should always have enough scrolls. However, if you need a specific scroll, the Gem Bay store is the place to get it.

Gem Bay Store

See that section of the Gem Bay page. Short answer, always buy the Purple Gems, unless you need a specific scroll.
